Ancestral knowledge. Future economy.

The Ancestra Fund is an innovative philanthropic fund that empowers communities through the sociobioeconomy, valuing their traditional knowledge and Brazilian biodiversity.

Who leads the Fund.

GSS, Instituto GEN, and Action are joining forces to transform both the lives of communities through sociobioeconomy and the way strategic donations are allocated and managed — from the origination and implementation of projects to corporate‑grade financial stewardship and long‑term impact measurement. We do this through a holistic approach that centers communities and biodiversity, recognizes territorial complexity, and treats donations as a transformational tool far beyond paternalistic charity.

How does the submission process work?

Project submission is carried out exclusively through the VBIO platform.

From there, the project goes through the fund’s evaluation and governance stages.

Projects submitted to the Ancestra Fund must have a minimum value of BRL 500,000.00, in line with the strategy of supporting structured initiatives with medium- to long-term impact.

STEP 01
Submission on the VBIO platform

The proponent registers and submits the project on the platform.

STEP 02
Technical evaluation and initial curation

The project team conducts a technical analysis and forwards the proposals to the Selection Committee.

STEP 03

The committee evaluates the projects and deliberates on its recommendation.

STEP 04
Management Board

The recommended projects are submitted to the Board, which carries out institutional validation.

STEP 05
Approval of resource allocation
